With a Push of a Button Rod Stoke's Journey on The Voice Continues
In his short time on The Voice Rod Stokes has already experienced the highs and lows of the show.
Stokes impressed coaches John Legend, Adam Levine, and Blake Shelton with his version of “To Love Somebody” by The Bee Gees. Stokes was the last artist to join Team. Blake. A lot of artists who audition for The Voice dream if being in the position Stokes found himself in, The talented artist had three extremely capable coach who could lead him to victory. Stokes went with Shelton because of what the two had in common.
“ I love Blake Shelton,” said Stokes.
“[I thought he and I] would be a great fit. We’re both super Country.
After the Blind Auditions Stokes faced off against fellow Team Blake member Gyth Rigdon. The pair sang “Drunk Me” by Mitchell Tenpenny. Both Stokes and Rigdon both impressed the coaches with their performance. Of Stokes Legend said “Rod your vocal tone is so interesting and unique.” Shelton would go on to choose Rigdon as the winner and in that moment Stokes time on the show was over, but with the press of a button and a steal Stoke now finds himself on Team Adam. Levine who turned for Stokes during the Blinds and thought Stokes won the battle finally has his man.
“I think it was pretty even but I thought maybe Rod took this one. There’s just something about what you do that is really special. There’s seems to be even more potential as far as the breath of what you can do on the show,” said Levine after Rigdon and Stokes’ Battle Round.
Stoles’ journey on The Voice began long before he took The Voice stage. Stokes made it to The Voice finale as part of The Voice Snapchat competition. Stokes decided to try out for The Vice to give his music career a chance.
“What are my hopes fo The Voice? I want to hopefully get the attention of some ears. I would like to win of course. With The Voice I now have one foot in the door,” said Stokes.
Stokes has been influence by a vast array of artists. His musical influences include 90’s country, Garth Brooks, Brooks and Dunn, The Dixie Chicks, and so many more. Brooks and Dunn are Team Blake advisors this season,
